# Save useful spreadsheet questions without saving stale business facts

Separate recurring questions and definitions from current period data.

Use the supplied source as authority. Check the account supports the actual file or image operation before attempting it.

## Task instruction

Use this recurring analysis method with the freshly supplied file.
For [selected period], answer [named questions] using [definitions,
units and output grain]. Preserve valid zero and missing values.
Ask for the file, period and changed definitions if absent. Do not reuse
previous dates, totals or source facts. Show source coverage, actual
calculations and a small check case. Keep unavailable results explicit
rather than filling them with a plausible zero or last run's answer.

## Source boundaries

- October known £10
- Two numeric values, one missing
- November has no records

## Review and correction

Select the current period and retain no-records versus unavailable versus zero. The workbook's actual checks cover those boundaries.

The routine kept [old answer/period] after the input changed to [fact].
Correct the source and period dependency while retaining the stable
question definitions. Preserve the missing-versus-zero rule. Show the
affected record IDs and revised calculation, then repeat the small
changed-input check. Do not declare the routine tested from a static total.

Use references/practice-source.json for the labelled example. The practice HTML is a local teaching tool; it does not call an AI service. Apply this method to the user's supplied facts rather than copying fictional example values. Do not infer approval or permission to publish.
