# Know when to return to the original portrait

Recognise compounded drift and choose a smaller permitted change.

Use the supplied source as authority. Check the account supports the actual file or image operation before attempting it.

## Task instruction

Compare my untouched source, actual candidate and intended use.
Classify the observed issues as file/export, destination crop,
background boundary, changed source appearance or missing source detail.
State visible evidence and uncertainty for each. Suggest the narrowest
useful next action. Do not assume another generated portrait is needed
and do not claim hidden source detail can be recovered accurately.

## Source boundaries

- Untouched original
- Actual attempt 1
- Actual attempt 2

## Review and correction

Both actual attempts changed appearance. Keep the original as authority and use a source-pixel removal route; another generation is not automatically a repair.

Stop refining the generated candidate. The required source feature
[name it] keeps changing. Return to my original and limit the task to
[background removal / ordinary crop / one lighting adjustment].
If that operation cannot preserve the needed detail in this surface,
explain the limitation and give steps for my existing approved editor
or a feasible retake. Do not invent another person to finish the job.

Use references/practice-source.json for the labelled example. The practice HTML is a local teaching tool; it does not call an AI service. Apply this method to the user's supplied facts rather than copying fictional example values. Do not infer approval or permission to publish.
